EU Officials Condemn US Action as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including the French president accused the US administration of “bullying and threats”, after the visa restrictions targeted figures that were at the heart of efforts to enact legislation regulating US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” stated the US secretary of state online. “This government will not stand for these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives joined France in criticizing the move.
The bans were imposed on Tuesday on a former EU commissioner involved in crafting the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), along with several anti-disinformation campaigners, including two in Germany and two in the UK.
